My Class for Rehabilitation Years ago

I found some cqs in my mother's room. I remember those days when I was trying to help her rehabilitation, working together. I did all of piecing and finishing work. She did seam stitches with herringbone, straight and buttonhole stitches, though it's not easy for her already.

I usually pieced a pair of naked blocks

She was very glad with my daisy.

I can see from her untidy stitches she was sometimes lost how to move the needle.

It was getting harder and harder for her to handle a sewing needle and thread. After a few months I advised her to do knitting with fat yarn. She knitted several squares, which I conbined into a warm ket. It was her last craft work.

Ah Hideko, this are all memories, they are so fragile now...
I remember that i found several unfinished things in my mothers house and took it with me in the caravan to finish it. I worked on it and have cried and memorized a lot in that holiday....1995...

Hideko, I feel your loss when I read your post. I lost my mother over a year ago and I find that I keep thinking of her and using her in my work. Your memories of your mother are such treasures -- just as your needlework. I'm sure you will find a way to unite them both. Fondly, Susan

Your lovely post reminds me of my mother and how she, too, was forced to finally give up needlework. What wonderful pieces you and your mother did together! I'm sure your eyes see and your heart feels the love behind the stitches! Hugs, Cathy

my darling Hideko,
I can hear your pain as I look at your mothers last stitching- I know that you will keep these and remember her always trying to keep her stitchinhg going. Her knitting though was not lost to her and she made a lovely knee blanket my love another memory. I finished a pillow my Mum began she had completed all the tent stitching and I just added a backing to it and made it into a pillow for my Dad to have, and I am sure yours will continue to give you memories as well
much love Hideko 'n many big hugs Bear xoxoxoxoxo

This is so touching. I am just finishing a block with my mother's picture on it. My mother is almost 90. She was never crafty and we are very opposite in interests and nature but that mother "thing" is still there... On the other hand I have tatted things from my late MIL that I treasure... Gerry K.

Thank you very much to all for your warm and kind words. We know it comes finally, but never expect today or tomorrow, as a Japanese poem says.
